Scaling Agile for Large Organizations
Agile originated as an approach to be used by small teams of around 7+/-2 people. But what if your project needs 10s or 100s of people? Can you still adopt an Agile approach?
If your organization is interested in becoming Agile but faces the challenges of implementing Agile practices across multiple project teams, a range of scaled Agile approaches exist to support you. Arguably the most popular option is the Scaled Agile Framework® (or SAFe® for short) which provides an approach that encapsulates the essence of Agile but which can be deployed across large and very large enterprises (as well small and medium ones!). Learn more about how we can help you implement Agile practices across your organization with SAFe or one of the other scaled approaches that we can support (e.g. Scrum@Scale, AGilePM, NEXUS, LESS etc).
Using Agile with Other Frameworks and Standards
We do more than just Agile. If your organization is looking to implement Agile practices alongside another methodology or practice such as CMMC, CMMI®, ISO Standards, Lean, or Six Sigma, we can help you integrate them. Learn more about our multi-model approach.
FAQ
what is AGILE?
Agile is a product development philosophy, used especially, but not exclusively, in software development, as an alternative to more traditional, sequential approaches (often termed "waterfall"). Agile recognizes the turbulent and volatile world in which products are created and embraces change, together with a more collaborative approach to focus on delivering value to the customer. Agile approaches emphasize teamwork, adaptability to change, customer collaboration, and demonstrable work products. To put these principles in practice, several agile methodologies have been developed, such as Scrum, Extreme Programming and Kanban. All of these methods have at their heart the underlying principles of agile that were enshrined over 20 years ago in the ‘Agile Manifesto’ (https://agilemanifesto.org/), and whilst agile started as a software development approach it is increasingly being found to be beneficial in a wide range of businesses outside of the IT world.
what is scrum?
Scrum is one of the most popular and longest standing approaches for implementing the agile philosophy, especially for software development. Scrum is characterized by iterative software development within fixed-length periods of time, commonly referred to as sprints. Other practices and roles established by Scrum include the Scrum Team (made up of the development team, the Product Owner, and the Scrum Master), breaking down customer requirements into User Stories, daily stand-up meetings, and more.
what is kanban?
Kanban originated in the lean manufacturing domain but is now another popular agile approach, based on visualizing the flow of your processes, removing obstructions from that flow, and finding ways to continually improve the process. Because of its emphasis on process flow, Kanban is best used for teams that continuously receive new tasks and need to complete them as soon as possible, such as IT support and service delivery.
